School Under Pressure
Here at Ordinary Magic, we realise that Schools are under pressure.
Funding for children’s mental health provision is in crisis. Since 2013, budgets have been stripped back by £500 million and, with the expected reduction in funding in 2020 of £183 million, (Bright Futures,2018.) It is estimated that, as a result, more than 70% of children either won’t receive the appropriate interventions at a sufficiently early age or, will face long waiting times that could worsen their condition (CAMHS, 2018).
Schools, parents and Third Sector organisations are being faced with a seemingly impossible scenario. With children not getting the support they need from external agencies, who fills the gap? Who knows how to support our children through grief, anxiety and frustration? Over stretched teachers and schools, carers and already desperate parents, face being expected to solve this problem, with, if they’re lucky, minimal access to training.
This is where Ordinary Magic steps in. Founded in 2019, we offer quality, professional support to children and their support networks through a three tier process.
