Welcome to Little Sparks

Helping little ones shine bright, even through life’s tough moments.

Little Sparks is our dedicated early support Programme for younger children (5-11), who may be struggling emotionally, socially, or with their mental health.

We work closely with schools and families to gently guide children through challenges such as anxiety, difficulty making friends, disability or additional needs, bullying, emotional-based school avoidance (EBSA), bereavement, and trauma. Through nurturing in-school support, group work, workshops, play and talking therapies, and inclusive community activities, we help children feel seen, supported, and safe. Whether your child needs a little boost with confidence or more specialised support Little Sparks is here to help light the way!

"We are very grateful to Ordinary Magic for providing support to children who are in need.  The practitioners are knowledgeable, approachable and engaging, and the children most definitely benefit from their support and guidance, and they are keen to put learned strategies into practice." - Deputy Head

Nurture Groups

Our Little Sparks Nurture Groups are safe, welcoming spaces for younger children to explore their emotions, build confidence, and develop important life skills - all through play.

Available both in schools and in the community, these groups use fun, play-based activities to support emotional growth and resilience. Children learn how to understand and express their feelings, improve their focus and problem-solving (executive functioning), and build positive connections with others. These groups offer more than just support - they create a space to decompress, share worries, and feel understood.

Whether it's through games, creative play, calming techniques, or gentle group discussions, children begin to recognise their own emotions, learn how to self-soothe, and build a little toolkit to help them navigate tricky times. And most importantly - we make it fun.

Therapeutic Support

Some children need a little more personalised support - and that’s where our therapeutic services come in.

Following an initial assessment to understand your child’s needs if clinically required, we can offer a range of therapeutic support options tailored just for them. This might include Play Therapy, where children can express themselves through toys, storytelling, and creative play; Counselling, which offers a space to talk and be gently guided through difficult emotions; or Psychotherapy, which can explore deeper challenges in a child-friendly, age-appropriate way.

We also offer 1:1 emotional wellbeing sessions with a trained practitioner who can support your child with emotional regulation, anxiety, grief, friendship worries, or whatever might be going on beneath the surface.

All our therapeutic support is grounded in empathy, safety, and child-led practice - and we work closely with families to ensure that the help we provide feels right, reassuring, and effective.

SEND Support

At Little Sparks, we understand that every child is different - and that children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) may need a little extra support to feel safe, happy, and confident in their world.

Our SEND support is here for families at any stage — whether your child is waiting for an assessment, has just received a diagnosis, or has known additional needs. We offer a wide range of support in schools and in the community, designed to meet each child’s individual emotional, social, and wellbeing needs.

This includes:

  • Small group support to help with emotional regulation, friendships, and confidence-building 1:1 in-school or community-based sessions with our experienced emotional wellbeing practitioner.
  •
  • Fun, inclusive community activities during term time, school holidays, and even during the day for children not currently attending school Support while waiting for NHS or local authority assessments, helping families feel less ‘stuck’ during these long delays

Children can take part in play-based sessions, sensory activities, creative workshops, or just spend time in a space where they feel understood and valued. We’re also here to support parents, offering advice, guidance, and a listening ear along the way.
